Greetings from Cyprus!

Dear Friends,

The material from Julen’s camp will be available, as usual, to everyone who took part in it, on Chesstempo. Julen is adding a few annotations and polishing the material a bit and will have it ready for upload in a few days. If you don’t have access to our material on Chesstempo yet and are a yearly member, please send us an email. You will need to tell us your username and add kct academy as a coach on Chesstempo.

There is one change in this week’s schedule: Jacob’s High Level Practical Training this Tuesday has been moved from 6 PM UK to 12:30 PM UK. Stany is back from his tournaments and will continue showing tricky positions this Friday, from 4 PM UK time.

Sabino will give a Playing Position simul this Saturday, from 5 PM UK time. All participants will start from a given, usually better position that Sabino will have to defend. Take your time to find the best continuation. If you’d like to play the simul, please join our team on lichess. Mention your name and membership email in your application. The link for the simul will be shared on Saturday, usually 10-15 minutes before the start of the simul. It will be available in the website schedule. You will also receive it through a lichess message. Please be on time! Once the simul starts, it is no longer possible to join. Don’t close the simul window after it starts – lichess will not allow you to rejoin it.

24 participants are confirmed for our in-person camp in Spain. In total, 40 have signed up for the camp. We have added more info about the shuttles from Malaga airport to the hotel and back on the website, here. You can find the full list of confirmed participants so far here. The theme of this year’s camp will be Attack.

We are still working on the schedule and will have it ready at the beginning of April. As a novelty from last year’s edition, this year you will have the opportunity of having small 1-on-1 sessions with one of our trainers to get your games analysed, ask questions and receive personalised advice.

The camp will take place in the 4* resort Zoraida Garden in Roquetas de Mar, Spain, between the 17th and the 24th of May. Your trainers will be GM Jacob Aagaard, GM Renier Castellanos and GM Julen Arizmendi. GM and former Women’s World Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk will be our special guest this edition. She will give a masterclass, a simul and play friendly blitz games with participants.

On the 23rd of May there will be a FIDE rated rapid or blitz tournament with prizes. We will announce all details as soon as we will have them from the organizers (our partners, the Chess Federation of Almeria).

Check the archive section of our website to get an idea about how the camp was structured last year. In the gallery section you can find some photos from the event.

To sign up, please fill in the registration form, here. More information is available on our website.

Jacob and Renier are in Cyprus for the Candidates. They are giving their predictions before each round and then showing a few interesting moments from the games every day. You can find their videos on social media and our YouTube channel.

Michael Schimmer is playing Reykjavik Open, in Iceland.

Tarun and Trisha are playing in Norway, in the Fagernes Open.

Many members will play the Grenke Open that starts this Wednesday, the 1st of April.

Alejandro Domingo, Arshiya and many other academy members will play in San Vicente de Raspeig Open.

Have you been playing any tournaments? We want to know!  Let us know on the forum or on social media.

Good luck to everyone playing somewhere! I’ll be taking part in the European Championship which starts in Katowice in Poland next week. Is anyone else going to play there?

No, but playing in the Grenke tournament in Karlsruhe. Good luck Szymon.
