Dear Friends,
After 6 heats and a few weeks delay, we can finally announce our Club Championship finalists. In the general standings, the top finishers are theKittycat and killerchesspadawan. In the U2100 category, the finalists are MrMeseex and Fmenlo. Finalists will play a match of 4 rapid games. If tied, they will play a blitz playoff consisting of 2 games. If still tied, the winner shall be the first winner of a game. The finalists are kindly asked to get in touch with each other and decide on a day and time that suits them best to play the match. After you reach an agreement, please contact Raluca and tell her when you will play the match, so she can add it to the academy’s schedule page.
The files from Julen Arizmendi’s Decision-Making in the Middlegame camp are available on Chesstempo. If you are a yearly member, but still don’t have access to Chesstempo, please send us an email and tell us your username.
The schedule for our in-person camp is now available on the website. The general theme of the camp will be Attack and lecture will cover the following themes: Momentum, Include all the pieces in the attack, Color themes, Material, Attack the weakest square, Attack the strongest square, Evolution/ Revolution, Kill Zone. Finally, we will end the camp with a session on How to continue at home.
During the camp every student will have a 50 minutes one on one session with one of the trainers chosen at random. These lessons will take place between 9-11 in the morning and 2-3 in the afternoon. The student should provide 3-5 recent games at least 1 week in advance (otherwise the lecturers cannot prepare well).
The camp will take place in the 4* resort Zoraida Garden in Roquetas de Mar, Spain, between the 17th and the 24th of May. Your trainers will be GM Jacob Aagaard, GM Renier Castellanos and GM Julen Arizmendi. GM and former Women’s World Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk will be our special guest this edition. She will give a masterclass, a simul and play friendly blitz games with participants.
So far, we have 25 participants confirmed, out of the 41 registered players. You can find the full list of participants to day here. If you would like to join the camp, registrations are still open! Please fill in the registration form and we will get back to you with more info.
If you will travel through Malaga airport, we have two shuttles scheduled to take participants and accompanying persons to the hotel. The first one will be at 3 PM and the second one at 9:30 PM on the 17th of May. The shuttle back to Malaga airport will leave on the 24th, at 7 AM from the hotel (timings may suffer slight changes that will be announced in advance).
On the 23rd of May there will be a FIDE rated rapid or blitz tournament with prizes. We will announce all details as soon as we will have them from the organizers (our partners, the Chess Federation of Almeria).
More information about the camp is available on our website.
