Dear Friends,

GM Akopian will start a new course, Creative Thinking in Chess, this Saturday. The starting point for his course will be his latest book, Pushing Horizons – The Chess Legacy of GM Vladimir Akopian. He will show some of his games, fragments of his games, as well as studies and problems composed by him. His class will start a bit later than usual this Saturday, at 8 PM UK time.

“The Tortoise Method” with GM Boris Gelfand will continue this Sunday, from 5 PM UK time.

GM Karthik Venkataraman, former member, but also on-and-off instructor of the academy recently shared an article where he talks about his struggles to achieve 2600 and what helped him. No matter what your level or your goal is, Karthik’s experience might inspire you.

We will have an in-person camp in 2026. The camp will take place in the 4* resort Zoraida Garden in Roquetas de Mar, Spain, between the 17th and the 24th of May. Your trainers will be GM Jacob Aagaard, GM Renier Castellanos and GM Julen Arizmendi. GM and former Women’s World Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk will be our special guest this edition. She will give a masterclass, a simul and play friendly blitz games with participants.

Check the archive section of our website to get an idea about how the camp was structured last year. In the gallery section you can find some photos from the event.

Arshiya is doing well the GM mix 12 open tournament in Serbia. She currently has 2 points from 5 rounds, after drawing against GM Nikola Sedlak in the first round and scoring against other higher rated opponents. Good luck to her for the final 4 rounds!

Szymon and Shahil are playing the International Open of Sevilla.
