Dear Friends,
This Saturday, there will be a Playing Position simul with GM Sabino Brunello. All participants will start from a given position that Sabino will have to defend. If you would like to play the simul, you will need to join our Simuls team. Please do this well in advance and mention your name and membership email with your request. The link for the simul will be made available on Saturday.
The month of intensive training will continue with an online camp led by Jacob. The camp will begin on the 26th of July, immediately after the Summer Homework program concludes, and will focus on Calculation Fundamentals.
The camp will be divided into theoretical and practical sessions. The first day will begin with the theoretical sessions at 5:00 PM UK time. There will be two 1-hour sessions, with a 15-minute break between them.
The practical session will take place the following day in the afternoon. It will begin at 1:00 PM UK time and will last 90 minutes.
The camp will conclude on 31 July and will be open to all Killer Chess Training members. Click here to become a yearly member or here to become a monthly member.
Hooman is organising a tournament and you can still join it. The Sussex University chess tournament will take place in Brighton, England at the end of July. More information can be found on the tournament’s official page. Since he is also a member of the academy, Hooman has kindly offered a discount code for all KCT members who will play in either the masters or the weekend tournament that are planned from 21-26th July. The Masters event is a great opportunity for title norms and has a 4000£ prize fund. The weekend tournament has 3 sections for different levels of play. Here you can find the current lists of registered players.
If you would like to join the tournament, add the code KCT2026 in the registration forms to get 20ÂŁ off the Masters section and 10ÂŁ for the weekend tournament. Discounted accommodation is available at the venue. GMs, IMs and WGMs are welcome to enquire about conditions.
TRenier almost won Benasque Open! He won the last round and finished tied for 1st, with 8 points out of 10. In Benasque, tie-breaks are decided by drawing of lots after the last game of the final round has ended. Unfortunately, the final order of the tie-breaks was not the most favorable one for him, but also not the worst…He got featured in El Pais for the novelty he played in round 8. Check out the article here (in Spanish) or watch his game on lichess.
Eli finished a bit disappointed, with a draw in round 10. He “only” gained 165 rating points and won the first prize Under 1800…His full performance is here.
A few members are playing in Sant Marti.
Arshiya and a few others are playing Serbia Open.
Have you been playing any tournaments? We want to know! Let us know on the forum or on social media.
