Dear Friends,

This will be the last week of Friendly and Killer Homework Clubs. Starting next week, the 29th of June, we will begin the Summer Homework Club, where you will have the chance to do a new homework every day on weekdays, for four weeks. Throughout the whole month of July, the “usual” homework clubs will take a break. New friendly and killer homework sheets will be uploaded again on the 25th of July.

The Summer Homework Club will feature old friendly and killer homeworks. Once you solve them, you can submit your answers and Renier will mark them.

Monday will be for Killer Homework, Tuesday to Friday will be for Friendly Homeworks. The solutions will be uploaded on the following day in video format (the old review classes) and on Chesstempo. You will have one day to solve the friendly homeworks and a whole weekend for the killer homeworks. New homeworks will be uploaded the night before, except for the Killer homeworks, which will be uploaded on Thursday nights. The deadline for submitting the friendly homework is midnight wherever you are on the corresponding date. For the killer homework, the deadline is midnight wherever you are on Monday. If you send your submission after the deadline, it will not be marked.

All sheets, as well as the video reviews, will be available here. You can also find all the details about how the Summer Homework Club works.

The intensive summer training will continue until the end of July. The Summer Homework Club will last until the 25th of July. For the last week, we have another surprise, that we will announce next week, prepared for you!

GM Boris Gelfand will start his online camp, Pawn Sacrifice for the Initiative, this Thursday. The camp will happen between the 25th and the 28th of June. Training will start every day at 5 PM UK time and will include three sessions of 50 minutes. There will be two 10 minutes breaks between sessions. More details about the camp can be found here.

New and renewed yearly members between the 27th of March and the 25th of June will receive this camp for free, as a welcome gift. Everyone else who would like to take part in the camp will need to purchase the camp in our shop. The price for participating is €148 for existing members of Killer Chess Training and €297 for everyone else (includes a month’s complimentary membership of the academy).

Arshiya is currently on 4.5/6 in the World Youth Championship in Italy. You can follow her games here. A few other members are also fighting in their age group – we wish everyone the best of luck!

Tarun and Trisha will play the II Lince Andujar Chess Festival.

Finally, if you are still working on your summer plans, Hooman, who is also a member of the academy, is organizing the Sussex University chess tournament in Brighton, England in July. More information can be found on the tournament’s official page. He has also kindly offered a discount code for all KCT members who will play in either the masters or the weekend tournament that are planned from 21-26th July. The Masters event is a great opportunity for title norms and has a 4000£ prize fund. The weekend tournament has 3 sections for different levels of play. Here you can find the current lists of registered players.

If you would like to join the tournament, add the code KCT2026 in the registration forms to get 20£ off the Masters section and 10£ for the weekend tournament. Please note that the entry fee for the Masters tournament will increase on the 29th of June. Discounted accommodation is available at the venue. GMs, IMs and WGMs are welcome to inquire about conditions.

On the 27th of June there will be an online qualifier where you can win free entries to the Masters and other Sussex Chess events. You can find all details about the qualifier and join it here.
