Dear Friends,
Unfortunately, Jacob had to cancel his High Level Practical Training that was initially scheduled for tomorrow, 4th of June. He will see you all on Friday, at the usual time.
We have added a new class with GM Boris Gelfand this week. Boris will be away for the rest of June, so join him on Thursday from 10 AM UK for another session of The Tortoise Method!
We hope that everyone has already seen the good news – Sam has become American Continental champion for the second time in his career! With this, he also earns a spot in the 2025 FIDE World Cup.
A while ago, Jacob won the 2025 Danish League with his team. Now, he is also gracing the front page of the Danish Federation Magazine.
Doug won the Missouri Senior Open in spite of his terrible play, as he put it. In reality, we know that he’s been diligently solving and submitting the homework. He also got a good warm-up out of the in-person camp and tournament in Spain. Congratulations, Doug, and good luck in the 2025 John Irwin Championship! The Irwin Championship is held in conjunction with the U.S. Open each year and it brings together one qualifier from each of the 50 states, 2 from California plus 1 from D.C. – a total of 52 players if everyone plays.
Yahli is on 4.5/8 in Dubai. Good luck to him tomorrow, for the last round!
John Hartmann celebrates 5 years his first issue of Chess Life came out. To celebrate, he wrote the cover story for Chess Life Kids, which he edits as well. He has given us permission to share this PDF courtesy of US Chess. Enjoy!
Spoiler alert: Killer Chess gets a shout-out as well! Thank you, John!
