Dear Friends,

The Summer Homework Club has officially started! Since this morning, you can find the first set of exercises posted on its dedicated page. It is a killer homework and you have until Sunday at midnight wherever you are to solve and submit your answers. On Monday, Renier will mark them and send you feedback.

On Monday morning you will find the next homework on the summer homework page. It will be a friendly homework. For all friendly homeworks, you will have until midnight on the corresponding day to solve and submit your answers.

The video with solutions will be uploaded on the following day.

Coming up this summer on Killer Chess Training: camp with GM Jacob Aagaard between he 14th and 18th of July. It will be on Tal and will also include a week of special homework inspired from Tal’s games. This camp will be free for all members of the academy.

Hi Raluca- sorry for the questions…

Is there a special email to submit for the summer homework? Or just killer homework … or friendly homework ….? Thanks?

And is Jacob’s July camp online?

Hi Robert, it’s the usual homework email addresses, yes. So, the killer one for Killer Homework and the friendly one for Friendly Homework.

And Jacob’s camp is online, yes. I’ve updated his schedule in the Google calendar already and will also add it in the schedule on the website today or tomorrow.

Hi Raluca, I also have a clarifying question-

I reside in USA. Rules for homework is that the submission is due at midnight. I assume that means midnight London time (GMT+1)?

So for example, for something labelled “Tuesday Homework 01/07/2025”, that is due at midnight GMT+1 on that same day Tuesday?

Hi Johnny, it’s midnight wherever you are. I thought I put the whole sentence on the hwk page, but I now realized it was only in the newsletter, sorry about that. I have updated the website as well.
So, in your case, for the Tuesday Homework 01/07/2025 the deadline is Tuesday midnight in your own time-zone.

Which means: if You don’t have enough time - just travel West for an extra hour or more

Took me a while to realize that the video is from 2021, and it was only thanks to Jacob’s haircut that it finally dawned on me

Are we going to get the solution scores for the 2025 summer club?

And we are making the stats as well, yes. Today Renier will finish marking the last homeworks for 30th of June and we will have the final stats.
