Dear Friends,
The 1st heat of the Club Championship will be played this Sunday, from 5 PM UK time. To participate, you need to be in this team. Remember to mention your name and membership email in the request. Then, you will be able to join the tournament, here. The rate of play will be 15+3, with 3 minutes break between rounds. Sam Shankland will play some of the heats, and so will Jacob, Renier, Sabino and Julen.
A quick reminder about the format. There will be 6 heats and this will be the full schedule (timings in LONDON time):
- Heat 1 – 1st of February at 5 PM
- Heat 2 – 15th of February at 5 PM
- Heat 3 – 22nd of February at 5 PM
- Heat 4 – 1st of March at 5 PM
- Heat 5 – 8th of March at 5 PM
- Heat 6 – 15th of March at 5 PM
The top two players overall and u2100 will qualify for the final. Three best results will be counted to calculate the top scorers. You do not need to play all 6 heats to qualify for the final, but you will have to play at least 3. We will use the following points system:

Jacob will have a High Level Practical Training class on Friday, the 6th of February. His positional course, A Friendly Guide to Positional Play, will also resume this Sunday, the 8th of February.
19 people have registered already for our in-person camp and 6 have already confirmed their participation. If you want to join us, there is still time to catch the early bird gift before the 15th of February!
The training will take place in the 4* resort Zoraida Garden in Roquetas de Mar, Spain, between the 17th and the 24th of May. Your trainers will be GM Jacob Aagaard, GM Renier Castellanos and GM Julen Arizmendi. GM and former Women’s World Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk will be our special guest this edition. She will give a masterclass, a simul and play friendly blitz games with participants.
On the 23rd of May there will be a FIDE rated rapid or blitz tournament with prizes. We will announce all details as soon as we will have them.

Participants who will register and pay the camp fee before the 15th of February 2026 will receive a gift consisting of 6 books. Four of them will be available to choose from a list. The other two will be with free choice.

Andy Woordard won the Challengers group of TATA Steel and qualified to play in the Masters group next year. We are very happy for his success and feel proud to have been part of his journey.
