Dear Friends,
Some of the usual classes have moved around, so please double check this week’s schedule! GM Swayams will have a more European-friendly class again, from 10 AM UK time instead of the usual 4 AM.
GM Mykhaylo Oleksiyenko will have his Practical Endgames sessions on Thursday from 5 PM UK time instead of Friday.
Renier’s Tactical Targets has been moved to Friday, from 3 PM UK time.
On Saturday, GM Boris Gelfand will join us again with The Tortoise Method.
Jacob will be back from the US this week. He returns with a class on Friendly Guide to Positional Play on Sunday, at the usual 4 PM UK time.
If you are a new member or still don’t have access to our material on Chesstempo, please get in touch with us and tell us your username. Raluca will add the free update to gold to your account and give you access to our files.
As summer is approaching, we are preparing our summer schedule. We know how much you’ve enjoyed last year’s summer homeworks, so are bringing back the Practical Month! All through July we will allow members to work on past homeworks, in order to give you a chance to be super focused on practical improvement. You will find a new homework every day, Monday to Friday. You can solve and submit your solutions by midnight on the corresponding date. The “usual” homework club will take a break during this time. Jacob will give a camp open to all members 14-18 July. More information about both activities will be available soon on the website.
If any of you is looking for norms, we have been informed that there will be a closed GM-norm tournament in Mallorca, from 21-26 of September. The location is Hotel Es Blau des Nord 4****, in Colonia de Sant Pere, Mallorca. For more information, you can contact the organiser, Joan Pedro Cerrato, at [email protected] or phone number +34 699021755.
The very strong Sharjah Open just finished yesterday. Two members, GMs Karthik Venkataraman and Velimir Ivic were fighting it out in section A of the tournament. Raluca has been doing live coverage for lichess. Velimir played some very inspired chess and finished 4th, with 6/9. He won 3 games (all of them with the black pieces!) and drew the rest.
Former member Mayank won the B section, with 7,5/9!
Aradhya played the New Delhi Rapid and Blitz Open. He won the rapid section and finished 7th in blitz!
Sam is part of the leaders’ group with 4.5/5 in the American Continental Chess Championship in Brazil. Have you seen his game yesterday?
Dubai Open begins tomorrow. We are all rooting for Yahli, who starts ranked 19th.
Have you been playing any tournaments? We want to know! Let us know on the forum or on social media.
