Dear Friends,

As announced in a previous newsletter, From the Opening to the Endgame with IM Andras Toth has come to an end. Its recordings will remain free to watch for all monthly and yearly subscribers until the 22nd of March. The Chesstempo file is fully updated and will remain available until the same date.

After a week’s break, Andras is ready to present his new course – and it sounds like it will be a very interesting one! His new theme will be unique pawn structures; structures that arise from only one – or very few – openings. The full course description is available to all members on the website.

We will have a new camp between the 26th and 29th of March with GM Julen Arizmendi. The theme will be Decision-Making in the Middlegame. More information about the camp is available here.

The training will take time between 17.00 and 20.30 London time each, with two 15-minute breaks between the sessions. The camp will offer you a full 12 hours of training.

New yearly members and yearly renewals between the 28th of December and the 26th of March will receive this camp for free, as a welcome gift. Everyone else who would like to participate needs to purchase the camp in our shop. If you are a member, remember to log in first to have the members’ discount applied to the camp!

Two more heats are left in the Club Championship. The 5th one will be played on Sunday, from 5 PM UK time. In order to participate, you need to be in this team. Please send your request with time and remember to mention your name and membership email in it. Then, you will be able to join the tournament, here.

34 people have registered and 21 have now confirmed their participation in our in-person camp in Roquetas de Mar. You can find the full list of confirmed participants so far here. The theme of this year’s camp will be Attack. More details, as well as the detailed schedule will be ready very soon on the website.

The training will take place in the 4* resort Zoraida Garden in Roquetas de Mar, Spain, between the 17th and the 24th of May. Your trainers will be GM Jacob Aagaard, GM Renier Castellanos and GM Julen Arizmendi. GM and former Women’s World Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk will be our special guest this edition. She will give a masterclass, a simul and play friendly blitz games with participants.

On the 23rd of May there will be a FIDE rated rapid or blitz tournament with prizes. We will announce all details as soon as we will have them from the organizers (our partners, the Chess Federation of Almeria).

Check the archive section of our website to get an idea about how the camp was structured last year. In the gallery section you can find some photos from the event.

To sign up, please fill in the registration form, here. More information is available on our website.

Last week was a successful week for a few members. Maria Curca played the U13 Romanian Championship. After 9 rounds, she finished with 6 points and won the bronze medal. Congratulations, Maria!

Mayukh played the West Bengal State rapid and blitz Championships and won both! He is the first player to achieve this in over 5 years, congratulations! Funny enough, the podium of the Rapid Championship was fully comprised of current and past members of the academy!

Have you been playing any tournaments? We want to know!  Let us know on the forum or on social media.
